Profile

The department Geology established for academic programs in Acharya Nagarjuna University in 1985 has taken up a post-graduation programme and Ph.D research programs. The specific significance and uniqueness of M.Sc Geology course designed here is that the highest emphasis is given to the important thrust areas of subject, namely- Remote sensing, GIS and GPS, Gemology, Petroleum exploration, Hydrogeological and environmental aspects, apart from covering the basic traditional subjects. The existing faculty has specializations in these areas and having good research experience and teaching as well working in those directions. A dedicated and sound knowledge with skills, the faculty is meant for that striving in fulfilling the goals of the programs. The course curriculum is constantly reviewed and updated recognizing the dynamic trends. As a result, the outgoing student is able directly either to establish a firm/institution on his own and/or being gets appointed by number of organizations like Geological Survey of India (GSI), ONGC, IBM, AMD, NMDC, MECL, Coal India, and State Mining and Ground water Departments.
