Department of Telugu&Oriental Languages started in 1976. This department was initially starting with M.A.Telugu, within a decade it has become a cushion by incorporating M.A. Sanskritinto itself. Subject experts like Prof.T.Donappagaru, Prof.B.Purushottam garu, Prof.N.AnantharamaSastry, Prof.A.PunnaRao garu, Prof.Y.Balagangadhararao aru. Prof.Gangappa garu, Prof.Nirmalagaru, Prof.T.Satyavathi garu worked in this department. All of them have enriched Telugu literature with their literary writings. The university anthem which is the played first at any programme in the university from this department. It is pride of the department. Some of the alumni of this department have entered the film industry and are still entertaining the audience. Whatever development programmeis happening in the society or whatever development programme is happeningin the society or whatever the disaster situation is, it is part of the department to provide literature and sensitize the people..
The faculty of the Department of Telugu&OL is participating actively in UGC National and international seminars and publishing literary articles in various journals. In the same way the research schools of Telugu&OL are also interestingly participating above said seminars M.A.Telugu, M.A.Sanskrit students are provided jobs in various schools and colleges after completing their course.
So far department has prducedabove 200 Ph.Ds and185 M.Phils in Telugu as well as 18Ph.D.s and 27 M.Phil.s in Sanskrit.
